An Apprenticeship could be the start of an exciting and rewarding career in engineering. You will earn as you learn and be employed by a local company, receiving a salary from day one. Your apprenticeship will last up to four years with the first year spent in our engineering training centre in Gloucester.

In order to work towards an apprenticeship with GET, all learners have to be employed. Learners are encouraged to apply directly to GET who will support them with their search for an appropriate apprenticeship sponsor. Learners are also encouraged to apply directly to any advertisements they see in the local press or on the internet.

The Recruitment Process

To apply for an Apprenticeship, you will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade A – C or 9 - 2 to include Mathematics, English and Science.

All learners will need to undertake an initial assessment prior to being employed and before training begins. This assessment is designed to identify your strengths and possible areas of improvement, as well as helping to identify your most suitable skills within engineering.

Shortly after the assessment process, you will relieve feedback on your initial assessment results which will be shared with any prospective employers.

Employers then select and contact those they wish to take forward to the interview stage of their own internal recruitment processes.

Applicants who are unsuccessful in finding an employer by 31st August will be advised of the appropriate courses in engineering to undertake in order to enhance their chances of success should they choose to re-apply the following year.
