Engineering is an extremely popular career choice. In fact, many well-known and famous people have been acclaimed for their engineering talents.

Alfred Hitchcock

Well-known as a Hollywood movie director, Alfred Hitchcock went to engineering school before entering the film industry. He graduated from the London County Council School of Engineering and Navigation. His ability to think like an engineer gave him a great edge with his film making. Alfred Hitchcock passed away in 1980, but he lives on in the fantastic work he left behind.

Rowan Atkinson

Famed for his alter-ego character Mr. Bean, Rowan Atkinson completed a degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Newcastle University. He then continued to complete a master’s Degree in engineering at the Queen’s College in Oxford, but never went further with the career.

Brian May

Though widely known around the world for being the lead guitarist of Queen, Brian May studied Physics and Maths at Imperial College London. He abandoned his studies when Queen began to have international success, though he re-registered for his PhD in 2006, where he submitted his thesis less than one year later.

Ashton Kutcher

Perhaps surprisingly, Ashton Kutcher enrolled at the University of Iowa, majoring in Biochemical Engineering. Ashton Kutcher initially took part in this course as he was motivated to find a cure for his brother’s heart ailment. During his studies, he placed first in a modelling competition and dropped out to pursue a career in acting.

Cindy Crawford

Famed as one of the most well-known supermodels, Cindy Crawford studied Chemical Engineering at Northwestern University in Illinois, United States. Though Cindy had what it took, she only remained at the University for one semester, when she dropped out to do full-time modelling.
