Engineering is a vast field of study. It can encompass many aspects of technology and isn’t necessarily restricted to vehicles.

You don’t just have to work with cars or lorries, either, though there’s nothing wrong with that, of course. You can be the sole individual responsible for repairing the one piece of equipment that keeps things running in a factory, or even delve into the complicated field of robotics.

Chemical engineering

Perhaps the less well-known on this list, chemical engineering focuses mainly on the field of biological processes that allow certain materials to be produced. It is largely experimental and involves a lot of analytical thinking.

The professions here can range from reaction engineering to plant design. It is a wonderfully versatile and diverse field of study that it boggles the mind.

Aerospace Engineering

This form of engineering tackles (you guessed it) the field of aircrafts and how they operate. A very important branch of industry, aerospace engineers involve themselves with aerodynamics and aeroelasticity.

So, if you’re into history and like studying planes, this is a good career to pursue. It is complicated, however, and not for the faint-hearted.

Electrical Engineering

Electrical engineers focus on (what else?) the use of electricity and the large-scale supply of electrical power. If you have a flair for working with electrical devices and keen to know how they work, this is the perfect career for you.

As an electrical engineer, you’re at the forefront of many of today’s technological advancements too, which is a very exciting prospect.

Computer Engineering

Finally, computer engineering is the most underestimated form of engineering. It is the science of designing and implementing hardware and software in computing devices, anything from a laptop to a mobile phone.

While many may think of stereotypes in regards to this industry, it’s one of the most important out there with many businesses relying on them to make their company run. Anything from a software developer to a hardware specialist counts as a computer engineer and, like most engineering fields, it involves a lot of maths and science to comprehend.
