The great news is that you’ve already started your career on the right foot, gaining all that experience in the field and earning while you learned the ins and outs of the industry.

Not only that, but you have doubtlessly grown as a person too, gaining a new outlook on life and meeting many new and interesting people.

Now it’s all behind you, what next? You’re now ready to step out into the big wide world of work. Will you head out with what you already have or will you take things to the next level?

Below, we’ve assembled exactly what you can do with you apprenticeship.

Continue Working

The best thing to do is the very thing you entered your apprenticeship for in the first place - to be employed!

Towards the end of your apprenticeship, you will probably need to start thinking about the department or area that you would like to continue working in. Engineering has many different sub-sectors within it and therefore, there are still many options available to you once you have completed your apprenticeship.

Earn a Higher Qualification

Of course, you may feel like there’s still more to learn and want to study more, in which case you could consider moving onto a higher level of apprenticeship.

Luckily, there are many options still open to you. You can either expand your knowledge and skills at the same level but across a wide range of subject matter or continue to learn in a particular skill area to a higher level.

For more advice, you should speak to your training provider and/or workplace mentor about what would best suit you. After all, finishing an apprenticeship is only the start of your career.

It’s integral to do as much research as you possibly can to make an informed decision. If your heart is set on studying, it’s always best to analyse your strengths and which is best for your career path.
