What you will learn

During the course you will learn the following in compliance with HSG17:

Hazards and risks from the use of abrasive wheels and the precautions needed.
Methods of marking abrasive wheels with their type, size and operating speed.
How to store, handle and transport abrasive wheels.
Mount wheels on pedestal and surface grinders.
Demonstrate an awareness of HSE HSG17 guidelines for abrasive wheels.
Select and use appropriate PPE.
Properly adjust guards and tool rests as appropriate.
Understand the importance of RPM in relation to wheel maximum permitted RPM.
Understand the function of flanges, blotters, bushes, arbors and nuts used to mount wheels.
Balancing, trueing and dressing wheels.
