What you will learn
During the course you will learn the following in compliance with HSG17:
- Hazards and risks from the use of abrasive wheels and the precautions needed.
- Methods of marking abrasive wheels with their type, size and operating speed.
- How to store, handle and transport abrasive wheels.
- Mount wheels on pedestal and surface grinders.
- Demonstrate an awareness of HSE HSG17 guidelines for abrasive wheels.
- Select and use appropriate PPE.
- Properly adjust guards and tool rests as appropriate.
- Understand the importance of RPM in relation to wheel maximum permitted RPM.
- Understand the function of flanges, blotters, bushes, arbors and nuts used to mount wheels.
- Balancing, trueing and dressing wheels.
