What you will learn

During the course, you will learn the following for Manual Lathes and Mills:

  • Health and Safety, awareness of risks and safe operating procedures.
  • Appropriate PPE and Safe Working Techniques.
  • Components of each machine and their controls.
  • Basic work holding with Machine Vice and 3 Jaw Chuck.
  • Basic cutting techniques, milling, OD turning and Drilling using manual and feed controls.
  • Use of coolant.
  • Reinstating machine after use.

Upon completing the course successfully, you will have the basic knowledge required to set up and operate the basic functions of each machine safely.

This is an introductory course and provides fundamental health and safety awareness only. Further training and supervision is required until qualification.

Duration

4 ½ days continuous or as 5 days of day release.

Monday to Thursday - 8:30 to 16:00

Friday - 8:30-12:00

No formal qualifications required.

Gloucestershire Engineering Training, Barnwood Point, Gloucester or at company premises.

Cost

£5400 per group, maximum of delegates.
