What you will learn

During this course you will learn the following about Manual Mills:

  • Health and Safety, awareness of risk and safe operating procedures
  • Appropriate PPE and Safe Working Techniques
  • Components of the machine and controls
  • Work holding with Machine Vice and Clamps
  • Conventional cutting techniques, blocking up slots, drilling, and angled faces
  • Inspection of machined components
  • Use of coolant 
  • Reinstating the machine after use

Benefits/Progression

Upon completing the course successfully, you will have the basic knowledge required to set up milling machines safely and carry out common machining tasks. 

This is an introductory course and provides the fundamental health and safety awareness and basic machine operation only. 

Further training and supervision is required until qualification.

Duration

4 ½ days continuous or as 5 days of day release.

Monday to Thursday - 8:30 to 16:00

Friday - 8:30-12:00

No formal qualifications required.

Location

Gloucestershire Engineering Training, Barnwood Point, Gloucester or at company premises.

Cost

£5400 per group, maximum of delegates.
