What you will learn

During the course you will learn the following:

  • Working safely at all times, complying with health and safety legislation, regulations and other guidelines. This includes the use of E Stops, Hydraulic Chucks, Foot Pedals, Air Lines, Guards and Interlocks. 
  • What is a CNC Mill/Lathe and the fundamental Operating components.
  • General CNC G and M Codes.
  • Operation of MDI and its uses. 
  • Program prove out and safe test features. 
  • Tool setting using cut, measure and touch-on techniques. 
  • Adjustment of Tool and Wear Offsets.
  • Load and save Machine Programs.
  • Understanding machine coordinate systems, Work Offsets and Datums.
  • Understanding production drawings and specifications.
  • Inspecting and measuring components. 
  • Sub Programs and Sub Routines. 
  • Use of Canned Cycles for machining. 
  • Absolute and Incremental Programming. 
  • Tool nose Compensation G41 G42.

Benefits/Progression

All practicals will be carried out on either Haas 2 Axis ST10 CNC Lathes or 3 Axis Haas TM1 Mills. 

All skills developed will be transferable to any CNC Mill or Lathe. 

The course can be tailored to be delivered at your company in line with your procedures and machines.

Duration

4 ½ day theory and practical-based couse.

Monday to Thursday - 8:30 to 16:00

Friday - 8:30-12:00

No formal qualifications required.

By arrangement, various dates and delivery methods are available.

Location

Gloucestershire Engineering Training, Barnwood Point, Gloucester or Customers workplace for relevance
