We are proud to announce the opening of our brand-new Higher Education Facility — a purpose-built space designed to meet the evolving needs of our learners and employers.
Gene Haas Foundation Executive Director, Kathy Looman, and Director of Haas Automation Ltd, Andrew Ward, visited us on the 26th June and officially opened our new Higher Education Facility.
Kathy Looman, Executive Director of the Gene Haas Foundation, shared:
“Gene Haas is the founder and owner of Haas, the 3rd largest machine tool builder in the world. Gene Haas knew from the beginning that supporting education was the way to be sustainable and started by donating machines to schools. This then led to Gene Haas starting his foundation to support the community, which started with his employees. He decided to use his own foundation to train students in CNC so in 2011 changed the focus to support education, whilst still supporting the community. Gene Haas have given GET this initial grant but this also makes GET part of the family. GET provide a great programme and I am very impressed.”
And our CEO, Warren Thomas comments:
“You said, we listened, and we did.
We have taken onboard feedback from our HE learners and employers around the need for a suitable facility to deliver Higher Education on a larger scale.
After six months of hard work, we’re excited to launch a dedicated HE suite in a newly acquired building near our training centre at Barnwood Point.
With state-of-the-art training rooms, breakout areas, and quiet study spaces, this facility will allow GET to support more Level 4 apprenticeships and HNC/D learners than ever before. All this work would not have been possible without the tremendous support of the Gene Haas foundation which we will be forever grateful.”
It was great to be joined by some of the 1st year HE learners, who will be studying in this new building from September.
